Hello!

My name is Amy Dunlap, and I am pleased to be joining Tuolumne County Alliance for Resources & Environment (TuCARE) as your Executive Director and Education Coordinator. I have lived in Tuolumne county since I was seven years old and I am very passionate about my home county. My husband, Cody, and our 3-year-old daughter mean everything to me, and they are what drove me to apply for this position. Being able to help our community and work in an environment that I enjoy is what everyone dreams of. I hope to exceed your expectations as I continue on in this position.

I have over eight years of experience in the Financial Industry, I am a Notary Public, and I am currently a Real Estate Agent for Coldwell Banker Segerstrom in Sonora. With my business knowledge, I plan to bring some new touches to TuCARE’s processes and continue to evolve the great work that Melinda Fleming has done. One of the projects I am currently working on is to make our memberships easily trackable for easier renewal. And I am open to any and all suggestions on how to make our processes smoother. On Saturday, October 5, 2024, TuCARE will hold a Natural Resources Expo in the Sierra Building at the Motherlode Fairgrounds in Sonora. This Expo is open to the public and admission is free. I would like to invite you to join us at the Expo with your family. Starting at 12:00 p.m., we plan to have booths open from different agencies, businesses, and groups from across the county for the public to visit to ask questions and get answers. This is a family event and will also feature a heavy equipment display in the arena, as well as a presentation from Kodama Systems. There will also be food trucks and kids activities as.
I look forward to seeing you there!

Sincerely,

Amy Dunlap, Executive Director/Education Coordinator

SONORA – On March 12, 2022, Tuolumne County Alliance for Resources & Environment (TuCARE) will hold their 33rdAnnual Dinner and Auction. The event is an opportunity for members and the public to gather, enjoy a great dinner, have fun at the silent and live auctions, and be entertained and educated by a keynote speaker. Proceeds from the auctions go to support TuCARE’s “Tours for Kids” programs. This year marks the organization’s 33rd annual event (although the last 2 years were not held in-person).

Guest speaker will be Dave Daley, California Public Lands Council Chair, and there will also be a short presentation following Daley about the Community Wildfire Protection Fund, a program that TuCARE and the Sonora Area Foundation have created to fund fuel thinning on private property in Tuolumne County.

Speaker Daley is a fifth-generation commercial cattle producer from Butte County, running the family ranch near Oroville alongside his son Kyle. Daley is also a leader in California’s beef industry, holding leadership positions on the local, state, and national levels.

Daley’s family has had cattle on US Forest Service grazing permits in the Plumas National Forest for generations, making him well versed in the issues public lands ranchers face and enthusiastic about preserving public lands grazing, leading him to serve in multiple leadership positions. He is currently chair of the California Public Lands Council, chair of the Public Lands Council Forest Service Committee, and chair of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association’s Federal Lands Committee.

For more than 30 years, through his involvement with the College of Agriculture at California State University, Chico, Daley has also been influential in the lives of other current and up-and-coming young cattle owners throughout the state. He recently served as the Associate Dean of the College of Agriculture at California State University and was an animal science professor at the university for many years. Today, Daley is still involved with the university through his role as farm administrator for the Paul L. Byrne University Farm.

Daley’s experiences as a cow-calf producer and an educator make him invaluable to California’s beef producers and the state’s cattle industry. In addition to his public land-related leadership roles, he currently serves as chair of the California Cattle Council. Daley is also past president of the California Cattlemen’s Association, and past president of the Butte County Cattlemen’s Association.

For over 20 years, TuCARE has held a Natural Resources Summit. Approximately 200 people have attended the summit each year. Topics covered in past years include political and environmental hot topics such as global warming, environmental extremism, and the importance of logging to reduce fuel load on public lands. The focus of this summit will be to raise awareness for the need to prevent future fire catastrophes such as was experienced in Paradise, and more recently the Dixie and the Caldor fires. Speakers will discuss plans that have been developed to reduce fuels on public and private land, create safe passage if fire should occur, and to guard our communities from devastation.

The speaking portion of the summit kicks-off at 9:00 a.m. and runs till 1:00 p.m. From 8:00-9:00 a.m., and 1:00-1:30 p.m. attendees can visit information tables from local, state and federal agencies/organizations that will provide information on ways the public can participate in the ongoing need for the reduction of forest fuels.

There is no cost for this event due to the generous donations by a variety of sponsors including PG&E, Clarke Broadcasting Corp., and local community members. Doors open at 8:00 a.m. On Thursday, October 7th, a tour will be held in the Calaveras County, Hwy 4 area. The tour is invitation only, and seating is limited. The tour will highlight the fuels reduction work that has been done in and around subdivisions, in parts of the Stanislaus National Forest, and on private forest land.

TuCARE is a community based non-profit 501(c)3 organization founded in 1988. Our membership is a cross-section of the community and includes businesspersons, educators, retirees, and those actively engaged in working daily with natural resources. TuCARE supports the multiple use of natural resources on public lands. Multiple-use policies allow for everyone to benefit. TuCARE seeks stability for resource industries to ensure the economic soundness and stability of local communities.
